Logan Park Sports Morning

Year 12 students from Logan Park came to school to take everyone for different sports activities. We were put into 9 teams with children from H1 right through to C3 mixed up in them. There were lots of fun things to do.

I really liked making a pyramid. I was always trying to climb onto the top. It was lots of fun. I nearly squashed Jonty.  We did the pyramid over and over.

 On Thursday 20th it was sports day and the activity I loved best was four square because you used a big ball up to my hip and my team always got to be the kings. It was so fun and my best part was punching the ball in the air. It was fun at lunch time too. I made a new friend her name was Amy she was the best friend ever. She said she never had a friend before.But she has a friend now. I had a great time.                      by Isla.                         

Te Wiki o te Reo Maori

Maori Language week was focusing on digital use this year.
What a great app Kupu is. You take a photo of any object and you are given a selection of words in Maori. We had fun trying out all sorts of objects inside and outside.
We also wrote our own stories in Maori. We could choose to write about a monster, a holiday, a journey or decorating our bedroom.

Short Animated Films

Last month the whole school went to the Regent Theatre to watch short animated films from around the world .

                                              Here is what some people wrote..............

My favourite short animated film was "Lost Pet" because it had good graphics.I also liked the pictures and it was French and I am French and I also liked the ending.The girl was cute.

My favourite film was "I want to live in the Zoo". It was my favourite because its cool how it had so much colour and I like how the little girl put on all the different costumes and tried to be all different kinds of animals. But then she decided that she was not an animal and she wanted to go back home to her family.

Kapa Haka Performance

We waited nervously out the back of the stage and then lined up to walk on. There were so many of us that we filled up all of the stage . We started quite quietly but got louder once we had finished our first song. People started to smile and enjoy themselves.

Lots of people told us that we sounded really good and we felt really good about our performance. It was fun!!!

A Lamb at School

Lucy and her family have been looking after a lamb at their house. He was one of three lambs born to  the mother sheep and as she can't feed 3 very easily the Mulders are looking after this triplet.

Lydia gave him a bottle and even though he'd only been fed 2 hours earlier he drank the whole bottle in super quick time. We were able to have a pat and as he was on a lead he was happy just looking around. As you can see from Cianna's photos he was wearing a little woolen cover to keep him warm as he is only 10 days old. He is still only having milk for food but he was intrested in the grass too.

Two New Kids at School

Ellie's goats came to school on Friday. Only one of the kids has been named and she is called Pine. The boy goat hasn't been named yet. The goats are one week old and only drink milk at this stage. They came into our room in plastic bins and they were very happy to walk around quietly or cuddle up with Ellie.

Kapa Haka

The senior school is practising a lot to be ready for our performance at Polyfest on Thursday 13th. We think we sound really good. We are having a dress rehearsal on Wednesday.

You be the Jury

We listened to a story about a  pretend crime that had happened at a vegetable shop.
Ava was our stenographer and wrote up important facts for us as we heard them .
We had some crime scene photos and other information from the police that included bite patterns. We had to be odontologists and think about whose teeth would match the bitemarks.
We listened to the witness statements and then had to make our decision who was guilty.
It was interesting because the class was split half and half about who was guilty and who wasn't.

Kapa Haka Kindy

We really enjoyed the performance by the Jonathon Rhodes kindy kids. They sang us the songs that they are going to perform at Polyfest. They all did so well and it was lovely to see them here at school. We then performed our songs for them.

Soccer

Stewart from Soccer South came to school on Monday to teach us soccer skills. He is going to take every class in the school every Monday and Tuesday each week . Unfortunately it was really cold for our session but we still had fun and Stewart made sure we did lots of warm ups.

Black Fern

Kelly Brazier plays for the NZ Women's Sevens team and also the Black Ferns which is the N.Z 15 aside team. Kelly spoke to us about her training, the places she has visited and some of the stadiums that she has played in. She answered lots of our questions and also showed us her Commonwealth Games medal, her Olympic medal and her World Cup medals.

Crime Scene Investigators

We have been looking at the different clues that are sometimes left behind at a crime scene. We started with finger prints and found out if we had whorl prints or arch or loops. Then we pressed our finger onto a stamp pad to check. After that we pressed our thumbs onto a hard surface. Using talcum powder and sellotape we tried to find a good print. It wasn't easy but magnifying glasses certainly helped us see our results.
