Quality Observations

After observing some of the shells we found  at Warrington the children wrote about what they observed and then sketched the shells as well. We played a game where we tried to match what was written with the  correct sketch. Here are some of the observations......

My shell is a little shiny on the outside and has holes like worm holes on the outside of it. The inside of it is quite shiny too and smooth. There is a hole and when you look through itthere looks like there's a pillar. It's six centimetres long and three and a half centimetres high. It is a univalve.

It is curved like a slide with pointy edges. It's bumpy and has a couple of holes. It smells of the sea. There are bits of spottiness and lines. There are big blobs of darkness. There are lines running down to little bits of shimmer and rainbow. It's a univalve. It looks a little like a drill bit so it spirals down into the dirt. There's a big barrier to stop the water coming in.

The shell that I got has nine barnacles on it and it smells like the sea. On one side it is smooth and lumpy. The colour is whitish with little bits of grey and a bit of black. The shape is a bit ovalish. It has little cracks in between the barnacles. It has also got brown semicircles on it.

My shell has yellow and brown smudges. It's purple at the top and around the bottom it is white. It is shaped with curves and a rectangle bit at the bottom. It is smooth on the inside and rough on the outside. The shell is very rough. It has eleven bumps on it.The back of the shell is very sandy and is purpley pink.
