It was really cold, wet and windy on Wednesday when our class went to the beach. There wasn't any swimming but we learnt alot from the lifeguards. Here is some of the writing we did after the visit.
We went to the beach and learnt about an IRB. That means inflatable rescue boat.
We had to say a tongue twister poem......Sun smart Sam says slip slop slap
and wrap in the summer time.
We learnt about rips. Rips are a flat surface on the water but no waves are going through.

At St Kilda beach we learnt about rips. It was good because I know all about rips because my dad told me. We would not stand 2 minutes out there in the water because we would get hypothermia quickly. Rips are flat pieces of the ocean.

On Wednesday we went to a surf life saving club. First we split into three grooups. We learnt ten safety rules. We went into lots of rooms and found out how to use the equipment and how to notice a rip.

On Wednesday morning we went to St Kilda Beach Surf Life Saving Club. It was obviously very, very rainy. In the morning we scrambled into the clubroom and hung our bags up in the changing room. First the lifeguards split us into two groups that went round four stations. One was when they brought us to the first aid room.
