We were lucky to have Mr Fitzpatrick come along and talk to us about keeping bees. He has kept bees for over 60 years. Some of his hives are in Moeraki and some here in Dunedin and one on our grounds up in the Community Garden. Mr Fitzpatrick brought along some creamed honey made from hives in The Valley. We each got to taste the honey and we thought it was delicious.
Maia was asked to put on the special protective clothing that he sometimes wears. We also got to see the smoker he uses to quieten the bees down. He brought along a jar with pollen in it that bees had collected.

Mr Fitzpatrick has lots of information to give us and he was really interesting.
